Digging to America
December 20th, 2006
“Digging to America” by Anne Tyler is a beautiful study of culture adjustments between an American family and an Iranian immigrant family. It’s also an insight into adopting and nurturing an adopted child. It’s a family drama that each one of us will be able to relate to at least certain aspects of at least one character in this drama.
Also, Anne Tyler approaches the issues of growing old all alone. She offers an interesting perspective into how immigrants react to “American culture” while trying to embrace this country. At the same time she introduces us to Iranian culture.
