Uncle Tom’s Cabin

“Uncle Tom’s Cabin” by Harriet Beecher Stowe is a classic indeed. It’s a touching story about slavery that will bring tears to your eyes. There’s so much to learn from this story but there’s one quote that touched my heart, “… it is impossible for a person who does no good not to do harm.”
When I read about Topsy’s character, I wondered how to make her behave well. I imagined that if it would be my task to make a lady out of Topsy, I would give up. Then, I was impressed by the way Evangeline handled the matter and made such a difference to Topsy. I learnt a great deal from this incident.
