When Kabir was 4, we went for a vacation to Destin. I asked Kabir to dictate all the events of the day to me. I wrote it down while he dictated. Amit added photos, gave a beautiful layout, and made it into a book. We used the services provided by Mixbook.com.
When Kabir turned 5, we went on a road trip and he dictated to me the daily events including the punctuation. Again, Amit did the layout and added the photos. This time we used bookemon.com to print this story in the book format.
When Kabir turned 6, he took the initiative to write daily journal on my iPhone when we were in Italy. Amit worked on the layout and photos once again. We used the services provided by Mixbook.com to convert it into a book.
My kids love these three books. The memories of these three trips come alive because of the books we have created. Kabir feels such a joy and pride whenever any of these books come in his hands.
This weekend, we went old-fashioned camping in the tent for three nights in Gulf Shores State Park. Kids had an absolutely amazing time. As we are due to write another family travel journal this year, I suggested making this a family effort. This time, each person in the family has contributed to the story. So, Arjun dictated the first sentence followed by Kabir and then it was me followed by Amit. It was such a fun experience doing this. So, I thought I’ll share it with my blog readers as someone else might find this a good idea for their family!
