Invictus

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Invictus is one of those movies that I’ll never forget. The story is a lesson on how forgiveness can liberate us and our country. I wish there were more Gandhis and Nelson Mandelas today. We need them so badly now. Also, it shows us that sports is one of the best ways to unite the country and to generate patriotism.

Food Inc.

The movie, Food Inc. was enlightening. I made following resolutions after watching this movie:

  • I will support farmer’s market as much as possible. This summer we tried to eat only those fruits and vegetables that we could buy from farmer’s market.
  • Eat out as little as possible (may be only once a week or less). If we feel like having a burger or dessert, we will try to make it at home as much as possible rather than getting it from outside.
  • Try to buy meat that is farm raised and not the meat of the corn-fed animals that grow fat exponentially fast. To outset the cost, reduce the amount and frequency of meat we consume.

Super Size Me

The movie, Super Size Me has changed our lives. We haven’t been to McDonald’s or its equivalents such as Burger King since we watched this movie in 2005.

Also, we are instilling in our kids that McDonald has bad food that is addictive. My son is almost four and he hasn’t been to such fast food places as yet and I am very proud of this. I strongly recommend watching this movie. I watched this movie again last weekend as my mother-in-law requested it. I realized that we need to watch this movie once a year so that we avoid fast food forever.
