For the month of November, we studied Poland. We completed our basic facts as we do for each country that we study. We updated our population chart and religion graph.
Kids thoroughly enjoyed making Wycinanki and paper Pisanka. We got the templates for Wycinanki online and also, we printed few coloring pages from this website that my kids absolutely enjoyed coloring.
We enjoyed Polish cuisine for a few days at home. We made few Polish dishes for the Poland Party with homeschoolers. We made Plack Ziemniaczane, Kielbasa, Barszcz Beet soup, and nut Mazurek. Also, we made Polish Apple pancakes for breakfast and my family wants no other pancakes now. I forgot to take photos of the pancakes.
We met with other homeschoolers and enjoyed every kid’s presentation about Poland. We also had a little taste of Poland, which was absolutely delicious.
Here is Kabir’s story about the history of Poland that he read out during the presentation. In the background he ran the powerpoint presentation showing photos related to the topic in his story. This was Arjun’s first time presenting in front of people and he made me proud. His presentation was a quiz of 9 questions that he read out loud himself!
At the end of the party, we added Poland’s flag sticker to Kabir’s pretend passport and his grandparents signed it. This time we started a pretend passport for Arjun too. Poland flag sticker is the first country in Arjun’s pretend passport.
Now, we are off to Costa Rica!
